Walking the Way of the Cross: Holy Week at Taunton Minster 2025

As we approach the most sacred week in the Christian calendar, Taunton Minster warmly invites you to join us in commemorating the profound events of Holy Week and Easter 2025. This week offers a time for reflection, devotion, and celebration as we walk through the final days of Jesus’ earthly ministry, His crucifixion, and triumphant resurrection.​

Palm Sunday – April 13th

  • 8:00 AM – Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer): Begin the week with a traditional service in St Andrew’s Chapel, marking Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.​Taunton Minster
  • 10:00 AM – The Minster Communion: Our principal service in the Nave, uniting the congregation in worship and reflection.​
  • 2:30 PM Registration; 3:00 PM Rehearsal; 5:00 PM Performance – ‘Come and Sing’ Mozart’s Requiem:Experience the power and beauty of Mozart’s celebrated Requiem. Join us for an afternoon rehearsal culminating in a 5 PM performance. Whether you wish to sing or simply listen, all are welcome. ​Taunton Minster

Monday to Wednesday (April 14th–16th)

  • 7:00 PM – Compline and Meditation: Conclude your day with this serene service in the Chancel, offering a space for contemplation and prayer.​

Maundy Thursday – April 17th

  • 11:00 AM – Holy Communion: A mid-morning service in St Andrew’s Chapel. ​Taunton Minster
  • 7:00 PM – Service of the Last Supper: An evening service in the Nave commemorating Jesus’ final meal with His disciples, including the symbolic act of foot washing. The service will transition into a solemn Watch over the Garden, inviting participants into a time of silent prayer and reflection.​

Good Friday – April 18th

  • 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Three Hours’ Devotion: A meditative service in the Nave marking the hours of Christ’s suffering on the cross.​

Easter Sunday – April 20th

  • 5:30 AM – First Communion of Easter with Confirmation: Welcome the dawn of Resurrection Day with this special service led by Bishop Michael of Bath and Wells. The service will be followed by an Easter breakfast, celebrating the joy of the risen Christ.​
  • 8:00 AM – First Communion of Easter with Confirmation: Book of Common Prayer, for thos of you who do not want the early wake up.
  • 10:00 AM – The Minster Communion: Join us in the Nave for our principal Easter service, rejoicing in the resurrection of Jesus.​ There is also an easter egg hunt
  • 5:00 PM – Festal Evensong: Conclude the day with a choral service in the Chancel, celebrating the glory of Easter.​
